DAIWA Emeraldas Peak Type S 3.5
DAIWA Emeraldas Peak Type S 3.5
- Premium Japanese slow-sinking squid jig (egi) designed for versatile eging applications
- Size: 3.5
- Weight: 18.5g
- Type: Type S – Slow Sinking
- Version: RV – Rattle Version
- Fall Rate: Approx. 6 seconds per metre
- Colour: Available in multiple colour patterns depending on selected variant
- Designed under the direction of renowned Japanese eging angler Hirohito Yamada
- Developed as a highly practical slow-sinking egi that is easy to control and effective when squid need more time to inspect a lure
- The 6 sec/m slow fall rate is ideal for working shallow water, weed beds and areas where a standard sinking egi falls too quickly
- Slow controlled descent keeps the jig in the strike zone for longer
- The RV rattle system produces additional sound and vibration to attract squid and increase the lure's presence underwater
- Designed to produce an effective combination of darting action, stability and slow fall
- The body shape provides good water resistance during the fall, helping maintain control during pauses
- Excellent casting performance makes the 3.5 size particularly useful for land-based eging
- The 3.5 size and 18.5g weight are well suited to casting longer distances and fishing deeper water while still maintaining a slow presentation
- Excellent choice when targeting squid around weed beds, rocky structure, channels, breakwalls, jetties and deeper estuary areas
- The slow fall allows anglers to keep the egi suspended around structure without rapidly dropping into the bottom
- How to Use:
- Cast the egi beyond the area you want to fish and allow it to sink to the desired depth
- Use a series of controlled rod lifts, jerks or sharp twitches to make the egi dart through the water
- Pause after the retrieve sequence and allow the egi to slowly sink at approximately 6 sec/m
- Watch the line carefully during the pause, as squid will often attack while the egi is falling
- Repeat the jerk → pause → slow fall sequence while working the egi through the strike zone
- In shallow water or around weed beds, use shorter movements and longer pauses to keep the egi above the structure
- In deeper water, allow additional time for the egi to reach the preferred depth before beginning the next series of movements
- The rattle version is particularly useful when you want additional attraction in dirty water, low light or when squid are actively responding to sound
- Australian Applications:
- Excellent for targeting Southern Calamari and other Australian squid species
- Ideal for land-based eging around jetties, wharves, rock walls, beaches, breakwalls and rocky coastline
- Suitable for boat and kayak squid fishing
- Great option for fishing weed beds, reef edges, rocky structure and deeper channels
- Particularly useful during periods when squid are holding deeper or are reluctant to chase a fast-falling egi
